How to bake Wholemeal Scones

The humble scone, can be eaten as a savoury meal or a sweet treat

Ingredients:
450g Howards Extra Course Wholemeal Flour
2 tsps Baking Powder
50g - 75g of Golden Castor Sugar (depending on your preference of sweetness)
1 pinch salt
85g Unsalted Butter
120ml Cold Milk
2 Free Range Eggs


Preparation:
Preheat oven to 200°
Line a baking tray with grease proof paper


Method:
Put flour into your kitchen aid/kitchen mixer mixing bowl
Add baking powder, castor sugar and salt
Make a well in the centre and pop in your cubed room temperature butter, milk and eggs
Turn on your kitchen aid/mixer until all ingredients are combined
Turn your dough out onto a floured surface
Ensure all of your dough is coated in flour and roll to 1.5" thickness with a rolling pin
Cut your scones with a cutter of whatever size you choose
Brush with egg was and place in your oven for approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown
Tap the bottom of your scone and once you hear a hollow sound, your scones are cooked!
